
The Project Management Institute - Arabian Gulf Chapter conducted a 3-day workshop on Procurement & Vendor Management from November 8th to 10th 2009 at the Gulf Hotel, Bahrain. PMP participants will be able to claim 21 PDUs (Professional Development Units) for this course in support of their PMP continuing certification requirement.
Based on PMI's best practices and guidelines, and customized to better suite the business nature of the GCC market, this workshop was focussed on providing practical and detailed knowledge, skills, and tools for managing vendors and procurements within the project and program environments.
The workshop covered in details, using hands-on interactive approach topics that included amongst others:
- Creating Statement of Work,
- Preparing and Writing RFPs & RFQs,
- Managing the bidding process,
- Evaluating & selecting vendors,
- Contract types and payment terms,
- Managing vendor defaults,
- Dealing with vendor challenges,
A total of 18 participants took advantage of the workshop and they all expressed their thanks and appreciation to PMI-AGC for running the workshop and for the professionalism of both tutor and administrator. They thought it was a highly educational and beneficial training event and they would recommend it to their colleagues at work.
